The top 100 richest people in South Africa have a collective personal wealth of R198.6-billion. This is equivalent to more than 6% of GDP.
Christo Wiese is the richest South African. The chairman of Shoprite and Pepkor, his personal wealth is R27.4-billion.
Patrice Motsepe of African Rainbow Minerals and Sanlam slipped from the 2012 top spot to second with a wealth of R22.5-billion.
Stephen Saad, founder of Aspen Pharmacare, moved from ninth to third with wealth of R10.5-billion.
